So I made it back in one piece. The flights were not so bad. We had a good time visiting my grandma and my aunt in Tucson. Being out there sure makes me appreciate vegetation!!! Good grief!!!
The last time I was in Southern Arizona was about 20 years ago. I don’t remember being so aware of how stark everything is. When we got off the plane my sister commented, “Did we land in Iraq?” And our second day there Jeremy just had to turn into a neighborhood along the road to check out the “landscaping”. The #1 item on most of our homeowner warranty lists has something to do with their grass, plants, or drainage of their yard. He said, “I bet these builders never get complaints about their landscaping. What would the homeowner say? I don’t like where you put my rocks?” Ha!!!
Other than a quick trip to the Pima Air and Space Museum, we spent a good deal of time with Grandma Lu. She looked so much better than I expected and would get down and play with Savannah whenever she asked. At one point Gram was designated to be Prince Charming for a dancing session with our very own Cinderella. Savannah had a great time playing with everyone and has already asked today if we can go back.
On the other side of the country for the weekend was Emery. He stayed with Nana and each time I checked in with her, she informed me that “No, he’s not asking for you. Just Sissy.” Okay, that’s good I suppose. But I wish he missed me a little. When we went to pick him up last night, he repeatedly went to his Daddy. Hmpt!
Nana said the two of them had big fun together and was excited to tell us that she taught Emery a song while we were gone. She started singing, “Yes, Jesus loves me…” and then prompted Emery to sing it. He got real still then belted out, “Esssss, Deedus (long pause) cheeeese”. It was hilarious! :)
