Any takers? Anyone? C’mon Girls…tell me I’m not the only one!
Tuesday night I finally had the kids in bed. I took a long hot shower. I grabbed the remote and searched Tivo for that nights’ American Idol. I opened a bottle of wine, poured a glass, then plopped down on the couch to escape reality relax.
But I wanted something else. Hmmm…what sounds good? I know! A huge, dark chocolate bar from my Christmas stocking that I hid in my closet. I grabbed it and sat back down, breaking off large squares and letting them melt in my mouth before washing it down with a sip of cold Zinfandel. I was enjoying myself ever so much, until….
Jeremy starts making faces. “What’s that smell?” I couldn’t smell anything. “It’s you!”, he says, with his nose all wrinkled up. “What are you talking about?”, I snapped back. “Ugh, wine and chocolate. That is disgusting. How can you eat that?”
After only 6 years of marriage my husband is still unaware of how close to death he is with comments like that during certain times of the month. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, that I was possibly overreacting to an “innocent” comment, and I didn’t respond. Maybe one of these years he will learn to make the same choice and keep his opinions about my food intake to himself. After all, garlic pickles are WAY grosser (and smellier) than wine and chocolate, and I don’t say anything about those…anymore!

My dad would snack on things like anchovies and pickled pigs’ feet. Talk about smelly “treats”!!! Maybe Jeremy needs to memorize yesterday’s bible passage. :)
Mmmmm… sounds good to me! Maybe those nights should be reserved for those spent with Aunt Jess!! :)
I wonder what he’d have to say about my addiction to chocolate and orange juice??
for me – it’s red hots and grapefruit juice!
