I am having a great week. I am getting so much done. Things that I have been putting off are now being checked off. Which of course makes my highly organized heart sing! :)
Tuesday I got together a bunch of office misc that has been sitting in a stack for months. Getting taller and taller, and beginning to mock me. The next morning after taking Savannah to school, I dropped Emery off at my parents’ house and continued on to a dental cleaning. It ended up being a good visit because they had a new x-ray machine. No more of those little plastic cards that go in my mouth and poke into my gums while biting down, over and over and over again. Now I just had to stand in a booth and an x-ray machine went all the way around my head taking pictures. E-a-s-y!
Then I was off to Target for an exchange of a movie Savannah bought with her Easter money. It only worked once. After that, it would skip and pause all the way through. I stayed focused and made the exchange quickly, stopping only long enough to oogle a couple of cute tops for me and sandals for Savannah. “No purchases today” I had to keep reminding myself!
Next was a stop at Belk’s. I had ordered something a while back from the Estee Lauder counter (before “the budget“) and it was already paid for. So all I did was swing in and out of there.
With 45 minutes left before Savannah got out of school, I decided to head to the credit union. Jeremy and I have been banking with a local hometown bank ever since we got married. But last summer they were bought out by a much larger, corporate bank. I have been repeatedly disappointed by the new one with everything from online banking and bill pay, to drive thru customer service. Yesterday I finally went to my credit union and switched all the accounts over.
I thought 45 minutes would be plenty of time, but I didn’t realize the woman “taking care of me” would have to excuse herself from the office after each transaction was complete. So needless to say, after getting 3 savings accounts, 1 checking account, and 1 money market account safely entered and deposits made, I was high-tailing it over to the preschool to pick up the princess.
The two of us headed back to Nanny and Grampa’s house for lunch with Emery. When he went down for a nap I got back in my truck for one more errand: a trip to a government agency. I was not looking forward to this one. Who knew how long I would be there. I had been putting it off for myself ever since last fall when I noticed my social security card was missing. I looked everywhere, but never found it. (And I do have fraud alert on my credit, so I am sure no one else has it either). But Monday, Jeremy needed his so he callled his mom to see if she had it at her house. She couldn’t find it, and I was certain I had never seen it in our files. So off I went to take care of that.
I was there about an hour, which wasn’t too bad considering the waiting area was completely full when I arrived. I was thankful I brought along a new book to read. “When Did I Stop Being Barbie & Become Mrs. Potato Head?” was a delightfully amusing book to keep me occupied. At one point I even laughed out loud and wished the woman next to me would ask about it so I could tell her too, quite certain the quote would make her day as well.
So I got home yesterday with time to give the kids dinner and baths before church. Such a rare luxury it is not being rushed!!! Church was great. Fellowship was great. Idol was great last night too…no one got sent home and they are raising TONS of money for such a great cause.
See, everything is GREAT! Today has been much of the same. Laundry is caught up (and it’s a miracle…FOLDED!), bills paid, kids played with, new bank accounts entered into my computer, main level and upstairs dusted and bathrooms cleaned, and I even got on the treadmill! Whew!!! All that and did I mention I played with the kids??? I love days like this. Sometimes it seems as if nothing gets done and then there are days like today, where everything gets done, and gets done right!
Of course there has not been much time for blogging, and I sure have thought about it a lot and missed it. Several times I would say to myself, “I’ll just hop on for a minute…”, but I know how easy a minute turns into 10, turns into 30, and then an hour has passed. I am happy I stuck with the decision to just keep after my little checklist. Going into the weekend with a clean slate is sure a good feeling!!! :)

Okay – given that my all time, least favorite job in the world is putting away clean laundry, I have to ask: Yes, your laundry was clean and folded, but, tell me, was it sitting on a couch or in a basket somewhere? I told Chanch I’d love it if we would just get rid of all of our drawers and just live out of baskets!
Glad you found the Soc. Sec. office, seeing as their sign is as gone as your cards!!
And glad you’re enjoying your book… I thought it looked pretty cute. :)
Wow, woman!! You can’t help but feel good getting that much done! I’m so impressed!
Wow!! I’m exhausted just reading about it. I need a nap. :)
Hope you have a great weekend… RELAX, you’ve earned it.
