One month into the challenge and I’m down by a total of 2.6 pounds. That’s really great but keep in mind that one week ago today I got very sick and lost 6 pounds in about 8 hours. So in reality, I’ve just not gained all that back yet and seeing as I couldn’t even eat again until Sunday, you can see why I’m still down almost 3 pounds.
I’m trying really hard to keep it here, at 127. For my height I can get up as high as 135 and still be considered “healthy”, but the 125 neighborhood is where I like to be. So I’m close and I feel like if I can somehow figure out where and how to get the treadmill into this lifestyle of mine, I could maintain it quite easily.
Over a year ago (see this post from April 2006) I decided I wanted to run a 5K. I’ve never been a runner before but it doesn’t seem that hard. Kind of a “one foot in front of the other” kinda thing. But I do realize that it will take some training on my part. Right now my best treadmill time has been 2.3 miles in 30 minutes. I think that’s really good considering I only get on it about twice a month.
But last year the 5K got away from me. I’m afraid it may happen again this year. Sure, I could walk it. But that would not be an accomplishment for me. I want to run it. To do something I’ve never done before. To really put my mind and body to something and see it through. I’ve always been one to take the easy way. Only do things that came natural to me. Nothing more. Nothing less. I really want this achievement…to say I’ve run in a 5K race.
So far the desire has not been strong enough to get me up at 5:30 am. My preference would be training after dinner, around 7 o’clock. But that is the beginning of the whole “bath-jammies-story-bedtime” routine. And the earliest that ends is 8:30, with Savannah not in the bed until 9. It is possible to get on it then, but seriously? The whole “b-j-s-b” routine is so tiring! I am usually exhausted and the thought of changing my clothes and running for another 30 minutes is not so appealing.
“Have Jeremy help”, you say? Yes, that would be nice. Only, I never know what time he will be home and lots of times it’s not until baths are over. This is definitely something I will need to work out on my own. So that is my goal for this next week. I will try a couple different times of the day. Probably not morning. Not because I don’t like to get up early, but more because I don’t like to shower in the morning. It will have to be either during the afternoon naps or after bedtimes. I have to make a choice! What’s it going to be? Tune in next week to find out! :)

You are doing really good.
Can’t wait to find out what your decision is! :-) Glad you are feeling better. Getting sick is not a fun way to lose!
You’re doing good! The whole *healthy* thing can be such a struggle. Good luck with finding what works for you! :o)
I would go with afternoon nap time. I can barely think by bedtime much less exercise.
Good luck this week figuring out what works for you!

OK, I’m all about you being healthy, however I’m not sure that naptime is the best exercise time. If you exercise during naptime when
will you blog about those precious babies?!?!?! I think you have to get your priorities straight :) !! You know I’m only joking, I’m all
about the exercise – that has been my short fall for the last 2 weeks…
