In the fall of this year I was in a quandary. It was time to decide what class I wanted to take at our church on Wednesday nights. I browsed the brochure over and over again. Nothing really stuck out. I have been taking Wednesday night classes for as long as I can remember so I thought maybe I just needed to take a semster off. I’d look at joining one again in January. In the meantime, and so my kids could still be involved, I decided to help out in the nursery.
Then in October I came across this post that mentioned something called a Community Bible Study. Hmmm…sounds interesting. So I thought I would check it out and lo and behold there was one in my area. The class was being held during Savannah’s school time and Emery could come with me since they have childcare. I contacted them and they invited me to observe a class before committing and I really loved it! The only downfall was that I had to really rush to get there. I drop Savannah off at 9:00 and it starts in a neighboring town at 9:30. It takes about 25 minutes to get there. So add in a short walk from the parking lot and dropping Emery in the nursery and you have me hustling in out of breath each week. With the same happening after class because it lets out at 11:30 and I pick Savannah up at 12. Whew!!!
But nonetheless I was prayerfully considering it. I think the way they study the Bible is fantastic. First on my own with daily assignments and questions, then in a small group setting, and then with one leader teaching to everybody. There are even notes to take home and cross references for looking stuff up later. It was awesome and just what I was looking for. So I prayed that God would help me to work it out.
And work it out He did! (God is so cool…have y’all heard me say that before??? He really is. Check out what happened…)
I was talking to my friend Michele about all of this and she said, “Ya know, Jodi, that sounds like a study I was involved in called BSF. You are really going to enjoy it.” As she and I continued talking I got even more excited about joining. Then later that night, she sent me the link to BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). On a whim, I clicked on the link to check it out.
Well, not only do they conduct their study the same way as CBS, but when I looked to see where they held their classes (this is where it gets good!), there was one at the SAME church where I drop Savannah off for school each day!!! Hello? Are you kidding me??? How did I not know that?
So I quickly sent them an email to see if they had any openings and sure enough, they did. I went to their orientation the following week and signed up on the spot. That was about a month ago and I am just blown away by what I am learning there. Things I would have never thought of. Especially in our small groups. Each of us women are in a different stage in our walk, so it’s very interesting to see what kinds of things the Lord lays on the hearts of all of us.
I would encourage anyone who is looking for an in depth Bible study to consider BSF. They have classes for men, women, and children. Day and night classes. And they offer them all over the world. How great is that?

That is so cool. I looked at doing that this semester at my church, but didn’t get registered in time.

I’m soooo glad you enjoy it. I can’t tell you how much I have learned from that study.
Just remember-go even if you didn’t get your lesson done! You will slowly see yourself growing
and maturing in ways you never dreamed of. Wish I was there with you! God is good all the time.
God is sooooooooo good!
That’s great! I’m so glad it worked out for you. I’ve heard a lot of great things about BSF!
That is great! I hope to hear more. I have thought about joining that too. I just found out we have one in our area.
Blessings,
Angela
