Wow! I don’t know about y’all, but we’ve had a busy few days around here. Starting with Saturday afternoon. My sister had ordered tickets to an Anita Renfroe DVD taping in the fall and the time had finally come to laugh our tails off at her performance. If you aren’t familiar with the name, you might recognize her as the woman who sang the “Momsense” video on YouTube and ended up on the Dr Phil show. She was hilarious and all 12 of us had an awesome girls night out!
Fast forward to Sunday which was a crazy, busy day! We had church in the morning. I skipped Sunday School to finish cleaning up the house for all the company we had coming over for the Super Bowl. I had to bring the kids home with me because Jeremy had a committee meeting after the Sunday School hour was up. At 3:15 I jumped in the shower and barely got my hair dried before our 4:00 bible study group came over. At 5:30 friends started arriving for the football festivities!
As it turned out, and if I’m not forgetting anybody, we had 20 adults and 25 children at our house for the Super Bowl game! Can you imagine??? But don’t worry. It’s all good. We have great friends who have wonderful children. Some of whom even help clean up before they leave! I KNOW! I said they were GREAT!!!
And the best part of last night, of course, was that the Giants pulled off an awesome win against the undefeated Patriots. Way to go Eli!!!
Okay, so now for today. I had anticipated spending the entire day getting my house back in order, but thanks to the prior mentioned awesome friends that I have, it didn’t take too much time at all. (except for the basement…but let’s not talk about that, shall we?)
Jeremy was working from home and at lunch I asked him if he was going into the office. He said he wasn’t sure, why? So I reminded him that we had talked about taking the kids to Fernbank, our local history museum in Atlanta. He thought he could work that into his day, so after lunches and showers and waiting/waiting/waiting for Stafford to pee pee outside, we headed out on a little fieldtrip.
Fernbank was a lot of fun. Emery LOVED the dinosaurs and kept wanting to see them “just one time” (a.k.a: “one more time”). Savannah’s favorite was the IMAX film about the Serengeti. Specifically the part where the Mommy Cheetah gets a deer (a.k.a: Gazelle) for her baby Cheetah to eat. We debated taking them to an IMAX movie, not sure if it would scare them, but decided to try it with a little pep talk beforehand.
The pep talk at the snack bar went something like this: “Now Savannah, I want you to know that this movie is a little different than when we saw Alvin and the Chipmunks a few weeks ago. The screen is much larger and the animals will look a lot closer. But just remember, it’s still only a movie. And I also want to let you know that it might show lions and tigers chasing other animals and eating them. It sounds yucky to us, but that’s what they have to do to eat. They don’t have refrigerators and grocery stores in the Serengeti. When the animals get hungry, they have to catch their food. And since they don’t have stoves or ovens, they have to just eat it right there too.”
Jeremy gave me an A+ on the prep work and we headed in to the show. It was really good and neither of the kids seemed bothered in the least by the wildabeast carcass being torn apart by lions, then cubs, then hyenias, then vultures. Mmmmm…nice.
I guess that covers everything. Very full, but very fun. And now, I’m very tired! See everybody tomorrow!!! :)
