My father in law called me yesterday around 11:00 and said, “Hey, can you be here to pick up your cow at 1:30?”
Now, you have to understand that my husband and I could win an award for having the worst communication skills EVER between 2 people. But I think I would remember him saying something…ANYTHING…about us taking one of Papa’s cows.
So I said, “Huh?” (meaning…elaborate please!)
He goes on, “Well, it’s a half a cow actually.”
That didn’t help my confused state of mind. Half a cow? Why would I want half of a cow???
Then he started talking about freezer space and I needed to be on time because the cow had already traveled over an hour to get there.
Ohhhhhh…light bulb moment!!!!
How nice of Papa! He sent a few of his cows off to be butchered and we got to split one with Jay’s family. Out of curiosity, I asked him how much it costs to have that done. You’ll never believe what he said. Forty-five cents a pound. WOW! For everything from ground hamburger to T-bones for 45 cents a pound! Can’t beat that!!!
Beef…It’s What’s for Dinner!

So, I guess that answers the age-old question (well, at least from back in the ’80s):
WHERE’S THE BEEF?!?
:)
that’s 45 cents a pound plus the price of the actual cow, right?
