Our homeschool group took a field trip to Hillcrest Apple Orchard in Elijay today. We could not have asked for a more beautiful afternoon!
There was so much here to do other than pick apples. Which, come to think of it, we didn’t even do. But we did get to milk Buttercup, the cow.
Be a corn shucker. (As opposed to a “corn husker”, which is the mascot of my old alma mater).
Hang out with friends. (This is Savannah and her best friend at school, Elijah. Some might worry that her bestest friend is a boy, but I’m a little impressed. I was always afraid of boys. Besides, he’s a good kid. And I know his mom. She and I have already talked about their friendship and we’re watching them like hawks. Haha!)
Hold soft baby chicks. Also feed goats, love on playful kittens, and visit Buttercup’s calf at the petting zoo.
All before sitting down to a sack lunch next to a playground of zip-lines, slides, and swings. It was definitely a full day that wasn’t complete until we stopped in the gift shop as we were leaving for some homemade apple cider, apple bread and an apple fritter. Yum-Me!!!

Great pictures from a great day. Glad we got to be there, too.
