Anglers Warehouse has been open now for over a year. And for over a year we’ve been battling a rodent situation. It has gotten better…that’s for sure… but now that it’s January in Georgia, well apparently food is scarce and the long nights are cold, and our little friends have returned.
Since we are not a food establishment, I guess it’s not a huge deal. I mean, mice running around at night are not going to affect our products in any way. (It will, however, keep me from being in the store alone after dark!) But the big problem is that they keep setting off our security alarm! At all hours of the night! And then we get a call! At all hours of the night!!!
EVERY NIGHT!
The other night it happened twice and Jeremy was getting aggravated. So I suggested we use Lucy. He looked at me like I was crazy for a minute (to say he’s not a fan of felines would be a gross understatement), but I reminded him what a great mouser she is.
Over the course of 6 years, Lucy has provided us with regular sacrificial offerings, consisting of everything from birds and ground squirrels, to rabbits and lizards. There isn’t anything she can’t catch. As a matter of fact, the majority of my pantry is on shelving in the garage, and I’ve never ever had one tiny nibble in a box of cereal or bag of chips. I’d say she’s done a pretty darn good job!
So today we loaded the car with food, bowls, and a litter box. We calmed Savannah’s nerves about leaving her kitty at the store at night, all alone. We smothered Lucy with kisses and left her to do what she does best.
Good luck, Lucy! Let the party begin!!!
