Back in May I posted here about our failure to grow Early Girl tomatoes from seeds. I really had high hopes for those little seedlings and hung in there with them for another month, anticipating the bright sunny days would bring out their green leafy-ness.
I was wrong.
When we got back from one of our mulitple trips last month, I ran up to Home Depot and just bought a plant that already knew what it was doing. Now, I am happy to report, I see potential fruit!
Maybe in a few more weeks I’ll have me a nice juicy ‘mater sammy for lunch. Mmmmm! And next year I will know to skip the whole planting process, save my 30 bucks, and start enjoying the good stuff long before August for only $4.99 plus tax!

Your tomatoes are doing great!! I’ll probably be updating everyone tomorrow on my garden. I grew my zukes, cukes, corn, and peas from seed and everything but the peas did well. I planted my tomato, peppers, yellow and acorn squashes from a ready to go plant. It was hard at first because with the seed you don’t have that instant gratification that you get from the plants. I have a hard time with patience — God’s working on me though! Can’t wait for my mater sandwiches either — I love them with mayo! How do you make yours?
I LOVE tomatoes. Looks good. I know you will enjoy it.
Blessings.

Isn’t it exciting?! We got our first tomatoes starting last week. Brian wants to make salsa one day this week! I think we had one pitiful plant on the back deck in the condo, but this is the first time we’ve had a little garden in an actual yard, and we’re so excited about it! The squash and zucchini plants are enormous but no sign of fruit yet :(
And the seeds ares still a great idea for the kids. They looked like they had so much fun!
Hey! I am back from vacation and had to come over here and check out what you have been up to! Also have to go over to your Mom’s blog
and see how her trip to IL was….”home” to me, too! Your tomatoes look great! We, too, have tomotoes this year, and the plants are
so big they are falling over. I need to get more stakes! There is nothing like home-grown tomatoes….. MMMMM!!!!!
