As my kids would say, “Ta-Daaaa!” I took pictures of my day yesterday and now have them posted here for your viewing pleasure. It turned out to be a fairly routine day. With the exception of Starbucks. That was a treat to myself. For putting up with unruly kids while we ran errands.
Some of the highlights:
This is always a highlight of my morning. Or at least the first one. The next comes in the form of sleepy children with bed head and snuggly blankets.
This is the challenge of my days. Letting their rooms be “their” rooms. Can I really hound them to clean it and still call it theirs? But who wants to live like this??? I can’t even walk in without injuring my foot on pointy Barbie shoes or Buzz Lightyear bullets. Thankfully, tomorrow is vacuuming day and they must pick up on that day or whatever is left on the floor could get eaten by the vaccuum. At least, that’s what I tell them.
I have to admit. My room in not perfect either. This is what hangs just behind my bedroom door. I have to pass by it daily. It gets bigger and bigger. Can you hear it mocking me?
Jeremy looked at me funny while I was taking that picture. He knows how much I hate ironing. He said, “If you do ___________ to me tonight, I’ll take care of that whole stack for you.”
I said, “Uh -huh. You do all that irong, and then we’ll talk.”
It’s still sitting there.
Since we are on the subject of clothes…this is Savannah’s newest chore. I think it’s only fair considering she thinks it’s absolutely neccessary to wear a minimum of 3 outfits per day. And each outfit is subject to the laundry pile after being worn for say, an hour and a half or so.
And speaking of chores…Emery hates being asked to empty the dishwasher. I mean, Savannah doesn’t like being called away from TV or playing to answer my request for help, so I try to give her a heads up. Like, “Hey, when that show is over, please come and set the table”. But it doesn’t matter if Emery isn’t doing anything, he will howl and whine over emptying the dishwasher. Or in this case, hide from the actual dishes themselves.
It rained all day yesterday which was a treat in itself. However, if I would have known the rain was coming I would not have mopped the floors on Thursday. Nothing like a wet dog leaving footprints all over the hardwoods. Note to self: Tune into the Weather Channel more often.
What is it about dinner time that gets the natives so restless? From the time my kids were tiny babies, if I tried to get into the kitchen to prepare a meal that consisted of more than heating up a can of soup, they would fuss and complain. “We’re sooo tired/hungry/neglected!!!!!!” You name it.
One thing that has helped in my kitchen is discovering this video from MercyMe. My kids love it and know just where to find it on my computer. They play it and dance around like fools. It gives me just enough time to finish up and get food on the table.
So that covers it. My Friday in a nutshell. Want to see my whole day? Click here.

That song came up on my iPod the other morning on the way to work and I almost called Savannah to share it w/ her. :)
I forget it’s on there…. I normally only play it on the computer at mom’s! It is catchy.
That’s great! We should all have dance night-I think I will
add that to my list.
The picture of Emery under the dishwasher door is my favorite!!! Bentley as well likes to “hide” or become extremely tired when it is time to pick up. You mention picking up toys and he says, “Time to go to bed!”
Looks like our lives our very similar, except I make Mike take his clothes to the dry cleaner to avoid ironing, and I only have two bathrooms to clean!
Wish I could fit under the dishwasher. I can’t fault the little guy for that:)
