Weekly memory verse: “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.”
Last month in this post I shared about the budget counseling course I was taking. I said that I would share tidbits of good information that I was learning along the way. And I fully intend to make good on that promise, but I gotta tell ya…there is SO MUCH more valuable information in these books than I ever anticipated. My group is meeting on Sunday to go over chapters 1-3, so I am reviewing everything this week. I have enough underlines, highlights, and notes in the margins to write a whole ‘nother book!!!!
This weeks’ memory verse is one of my favorites from chapter 1. It clearly states that in financial matters (among others), a person can be faithful with a little or a lot. We don’t have to be rich to make a difference. If we are obedient to the Lord, He can turn even our spare change into much much more! Remember the story about the 2 fish and 5 loaves? Same principle. All you need is faith.
I have had times in my life where money was tight and other times when money was no object. Personally, I prefer the latter of the two. But I’d like to think that no matter what, I never lost sight of where the money came from, who it really belonged to, and why it was given to me in the first place. We are talking about character here, People. If God sees that we can be trusted with the small stuff, He will monetarily provide for us to have greater responsibility in furthering His kingdom.
***As a side note, I am trying to come up with a catch phrase for the helpful tips that I will be posting. Something like: “Money Matters”, “Money Talks”, or “Making Cents of Money”. Yeah, that last one is kind of lame, huh? I am not in a creative mood today. Any suggestions from anybody else?***
