Don’t ya just hate it when you bite into the small square caramel candy coated in dark chocolate only to find out it was really filled with creamy coconut? Then you sit there and wonder if you want to finish the other half of the coconut one or throw it away. I mean, it’s not your favorite, but it is still covered in chocoate. Only, if you eat it, you have to decide if you should really be having TWO pieces of candy? AND, if you go back in again, there is a chance you may not get the caramel one that you desired. It could be worse! You could get orange fluff!!! Blah!
And that is exactly why I prefer the Whitman’s sampler box with the “candy map” on the lid. No surprises there! If this were actually MY heart shaped box of chocolates that I was devouring in my quest for caramel candy, I might be dissapointed that it was not Whitmans.
Yes, that’s right, being the “mean mom” that I am, I am eating my daughters Valentine’s candy while she is taking a nap. I have a long history of this sort of behavior that dates back to the days when I would sneak my sisters halloween candy from under her bed (uh-huh, Jess, I did know where you kept it). But that is a story for another time.
For now, I can’t tell you how many of these mouth watering gooey chocolates I’ve eaten, but I still have not found one with caramel inside. Could it be that they would sell an entire box without my favorite candy in it? Is this a generic heart shaped box of Valentine’s candy?
I am not sure, but one thing is very clear. I have definitely eaten too many. Just looking at the rest of the box is making me somewhat nauseous. But I suppose that serves me right…after all, I am eating my 4 year olds’ candy. Shame on me!

did you share your cherry kisses with her?!
Yes, as a matter of fact I did! Good point! Now I don’t feel so bad. :)
I don’t understand why you, Jess and your dad all think biting into coconut covered in chocolate is a bad thing!!!!!
Ugh – I hate chocolate that’s not clearly marked! There’s nothing worse than getting one that you don’t like – makes me gag just thinking about it. I think I’ll stick with regular non-fancy chocs! Mary Catherine didn’t get any candy for Valentine’s day – now I feel bad!
