Today we went to Savannah’s first ballet recital. I think I was more nervous than she was. Mostly about the thought of trying to get her hair in a bun. But, hey, I did it and she became transformed instantly into a beautiful ballerina.
It didn’t take long to notice that Savannah does not possess my stage fright , performance anxiety, shyness in front of large crowds. As she was standing on the stage, waiting for the show to begin, she kept peeking around the curtain ssshhhh-ing the audience.
(That’s her in the middle)
As each of the students were called by name, they gracefully walked across the stage, to a designated spot…stopped…twirled, then took a seat. You could hear Savannah encouraging each of her classmates by name and clapping for them with the audience when they were finished. (Once a family member started clapping too soon and she scolded them by saying,”No, not yet, just wait”.)
When all the girls had taken their place on the stage, the teacher informed us of what they were going to do next. Then we heard Savannah again. “Ms. Kathy, I’d like to say something please.” Her instructor agreed to let her talk and Savannah proceeded to walk to the center of the stage, in the spotlight, and announced proudly, “I LOVE YOU NANNY, GRAMPA, AND AUNT JESSICA!!!” Then took her seat again.
After the mini performance, Ms. Kathy had a surprise for all the girls. She gave them each a set of wings and a sparkly wand. We are so proud of our little spotlight loving ballerina for working so hard and earning her wings. Way to go Savannah!!!

Been a while since I cried reading the blog. But here I go now. That song always makes me cry anyway. I was pregnant with Addilyn when it fist came out. I would weep when listening to it. Of course, I was a tad bit hormonal! Anyway, how appropriate! Pictures are great too!
I’m not that hormonal, but I was dabbing my eyes when they played that song yesterday and gave the girls their wings. What can I say except that we love her, too, so very, very much!!
They were so sweet! So glad Jenna and Savannah could do this together and I LOVED our 1 hour together
on Mondays. I will really miss it.
Oh my goodness-I just realized there was a video. It did not come up right away until I downloaded it.
How perfect for Mother’s Day. All we can do is give them wings.
We have never done the dance thing with our girls–they are too old now. These pictures made me wish we had, though. Your daughter looks adorable.
