The Georgia Drought ’07:
This is a shot of the normally beautiful lake that sits in my backyard. These pictures make me so sad. To take them, I stood on ground that is usually below the water. Can you see the blue and gray thing on the bottom left? That is a contraption Jeremy uses to put his boat in the water since no docks are allowed on this lake. Said “contraption” is usually sitting in the water. Actually, the water should go all the way up to the tree line.
I took this second picture because I was shocked when I got out to the dirt that’s supposed to be under water and noticed this drop off. It’s kind of hard to see the depth of it, but let me just say that if I were standing in the water, the top of the drop off would be over my head. I would guess that it’s about 6 or 7 foot high.
So basically that means that the lake is down much more than we thought. I know that parts of the country are getting way more rain than they need, and I sure wish we could get a taste of it here!

Hasn’t it been horrible this year? Thankfully, we’re finally getting some rain – but still a long way to go!
We are feeling the same pain over in Mississippi. How I long for a good soaking rain. I hope your lake fills back up quickly.
