Today I got the kids dressed and we headed outside for the annual Christmas Card Photo Shoot. I had visions of last year and was determined not to let my quest for the perfect shot squelch all the fun out of playing in the leaves and letting the kids just be themselves. It went pretty well.
I did have a few ideas in my head that I wanted to get on film, but between the rustling of the leaves, many distractions, and the fact that Savannah still can’t hear a darn thing…well, I did get a little loud a few times, shouting directives. All in all though I’d have to say it was a lot of fun. The biggest challenge I faced were all the shadows from the trees. Thank goodness for photo editing software!
Jeremy had wanted a family picture to go on our cards this year. I had a plan for that one too, but it has fallen through due to the fact that the few times the 4 of us could take it and my sister (the one who was going to take it) was available, somebody was sick. And now, with it being the week of Thanksgiving, I am just cutting it too close. I still have to order the cards, they have to make them and send them to me, then I have to address them all. All of that by Christmas! Yikes!!! Maybe I should make them “Happy New Year” cards instead.
Okay so I’m off to figure out just which photo I like the best. Want to see all the great shots I have to choose from? Just click here for my favorites. It’s not going to be easy!

Jodi, you take the BEST photos! Each one seems to capture the essence of your kids in that moment – a rare talent! I’m glad I don’t
have to choose which photo to use on your Christmas cards.
Just out of curiosity (’cause I could never take photos like you do!) what type of camera do you use and what photo editing software?
I’ll be in the market soon for a new camera to take photos of the shop and our products for the website.
OH, wow, I could never choose! Maybe just send everybody an email with all the photos attached!!
Hard to pick one. Each is better than the other! Savannah could be a model…and Emery is just dying to be hugged (even Lucy took a good picture, so it might just be the photographer).
Cute, cute, cute! We had our pictures made last week and it was lots of fun – but by the end the boys were getting ill.
Too many good ones to choose from! Best of luck to you. Beautiful babies!
You should have the sepia tones put on artist stock and them paint them to look like Kim Anderson pics. I have done this with some of my very old pictures and they have turned out wonderfully. Your kids are too cute.
Okay, I think I will be one of those old lady, cheek pinchers. Emery has very pinchable cheeks :) Your kids are both adorable, good luck making a decision!
Precious! Just precious. Love the black and white look.
You have quite an eye for photography.

Oh my goodness. These are fantastic. I can’t believe how old Savannah looks. She’s beautiful! I would not
want to pick but since you asked-I like the first one on your blog.
Oh my word, those pictures are beautiful and so are the subjects!!!
