So I received the weirdest phone call this week. The young lady was nice, and it wasn’t at all strange that she called me, but the turn that the conversation took…that was definitely weird.
As most of you know, I became a certified Crown Financial Money Coach last fall. I’ve talked to several clients on the phone and have 3 that I’m currently keeping tabs on. I wish I could help more people, but the last 2 I’ve had to turn away because I just don’t have the time.
I keep thinking it would be a great idea to post some helpful hints and tips about budgeting on my blog. I’ve put it off for nearly a year. Not because it isn’t a good idea, but because here in this house, we were being tossed and turned by the economy, with our budget ever changing, and I really didn’t feel qualified to give any advice.
Fast forward to this week. I got a call from a sweet young girl looking for a budget counselor. I explained that I was not available right now and gave her the name and number of someone who could possibly help her. I am thinking, okay, the conversation is over. Bye bye now.
She goes on. She asks me if I’ve ever written any books. “No”, I say. She then says, “Oh, because you have a cool name. It’s like an authors name.”
I admit, I was a little flattered. She goes on to say, “Maybe you could write a book about budgeting. Like how other moms can learn to stay home and not feel like they have to work. That would be a great book.”
Now that is not a book that I would like to write. But still. This girl didn’t know me from Eve. She got my name and number from Crown Ministries. How did she know I liked to write and had a blog and had a desire to share some of the things I’ve learned??? Well, of course she didn’t. But I think Someone was trying to give me the green light on this little idea that’s been rolling around in my head.
I have a bunch of things jotted down on a scratch pad. It’s completely random at this point. So I will open this up to you, my good and faithful readers, are there any questions you have? Do you wonder if your family could actually become debt free? Do you know how to live on a budget? Do you know what the Bible says about how we spend our money?
Go ahead. Ask away. And if you’d rather keep your question confidential, just email me using the “contact me” box in the left sidebar. I look forward to responding!!!

Well my friend…I think that was an angel of the Lord sent on a mission to push you do to this!!!
I’m going to start praying that God will show you exactly what you are to say…
What a ride!!!
Oh, and all that about not feeling like you can give advice right now….I hear you and “get” what you feel,
but I think that may be the enemy trying to discourage you don’t fall for that okay??
This is great, Jodi. I don’t feel in any way “qualified” to be leading
ScreamFree Parening right now and it is amazing what God is doing.
He uses us when we feel we are at our lowest point. You guys have been hit
by circumstances out of your control but that does not mean you don’t
have something to give back! I’m praying for you!
Yes, I was just wondering if there will be a chapter on ‘getting blood from a turnip’ and how one might do so…
:)
How amazing is that! Money is such an important topic. So many are in bondage for lack of knowledge about how to handle it. I look forward to reading what you have to say. And don’t worry, none of us is perfect.
Girl that is great! Write on-I would love a book like that. I will start thinking of any questions. But the Is it really possible to stay at home with children is a good chapter. I struggled so much with this at first when we took the dive. Also, debt free living and how to and what the Bible says about it. My husband and I took Crown and loved it. It helped us learn so much about debt free living.
Much love,
Angela
