So today I’ve been keeping busy trying to get ready for the weekend. Not that I have big plans or anything. We wanted to go see the Dawg’s play tomorrow night but can’t find tickets for under $400 EACH! Keep in mind, the tickets are $40 face value. Holy Ridiculous Markup Batman! I think if nothing else, UGA graduates were educated on how to make some money off their alumni status benefits.
But it is the weekend nonetheless and as hard as a SAHM may try to make Saturday and Sunday days that she doesn’t do the same things as M-F, it’s not always easy. I mean, do the kids really need to eat and have attention all SEVEN days of the week???
What is their problem?
Oh, I’m only kidding! (slightly) I still find myself cramming a bunch of to-do items into Friday in hopes that Saturday will be at least laundry-free, house cleaning-free, and with wishful thinking, cooking-free.
Earlier today I was making a few phone calls. These are best made during Emery’s nap times, but I couldn’t get around it today. The return call came in as we sat down for lunch. I decided to take it. I was only on the phone a few minutes and when I hung up I realized a certain young man had an unfinished sandwhich at his place, and he himself, was MIA.
I heard some noise in the bathroom and figured he was using the potty. In a minute, he came back into the kitchen looking at me with a sly grin, waiting for my response.
“What are you doing?”
“I go to the potty.”
“I heard. Why are you all wet?”
“I put my hands in the water.”
“Uh-huh. Is that why your shirt’s wet too?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“Hmmmm. And Emery? Why is your head wet?”
“My head not wet.”
“Yes it is. How did you get your head wet?”
“No. Only my hair is wet.”
“Okay, Son. Why is your HAIR wet?”
“I put it in the water too.”
Now, this is where mom’s of girls might decide to have a little talk about not playing in the sink after using the potty. Mom’s of 3 year old little boys cannot be so sure. So I walked Emery back to the bathroom and asked him exactly where he found the water. And yep, I was right. He had stuck his head in the toilet!
I thought that was only for boys’ locker rooms! I guess when you homeschool, they have no choice but to flush themselves into this rite of passage.
After throwing him into a quickie shower and then finishing the rest of his “smam-mich”, Emery was headed to bed. Savannah and I had plans to frost the chocolate cupcakes we made this morning.
A family in our Sunday School class just had a baby and tonight is our turn to take them a meal. I made a big ole batch of chicken and dumplings yesterday, then today, my girl and I made some yummy cupcakes for their dessert.
When Emery gets up we’ll take them their goodies. If all goes well, and everybody’s heads/arms/legs remain on dry land, I should be ready to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend! What are your plans???

Did he put his head in the toilet AFTER he went potty? Ha
We’re working in the house and watching the game on our
27 inch TV-whoo! Hopefully, Sunday we will go see Fireproof!
Oh the things I have to look forward to! (And yummy dinner, I am sure the receipent will be VERY excited to get that for dinner :)
It will be a busy Saturday for us – Shabbat service in the morning, followed by a mini-golf birthday party in the afternoon, and then Mike
and I have “date night” after he has been gone all week this week (his plane should be landing home now! YAY!) Sunday is Sunday School
and then relaxing around the house and preparing for the week ahead.
I hope your “Dawgs” win! Oh, and by the way, thanks for posting that picture of your cupcakes on here….I am craving something chocolate now! :-)
