One of my favorite times of the day is the kids bedtime. And yes, if I’m being honest, sometimes I’m just ready to tuck those troublemakers in and make myself a nice, strong nightcap!
But most nights I enjoy a quiet moment with each child individually. I love getting under the covers with them and letting them talk about whatever’s on their little minds.
Yesterday I got an idea for some conversation starters from The Small Scribbler, so I thought I’d give one a shot with Savannah last night.
Not knowing if she would understand the word regret, I asked “Hey Sweetie, I was just wondering…did you do anything today that you wished you wouldn’t have?”
Her reply was quick. “Yeah. I wish I didn’t pitch a fit when you asked me to feed the dog.”
In keeping with The Small Scribbler’s example I probed further. “What do you think you can do tomorrow so that doesn’t happen again?”
She answered. We talked some more, then hugged and kissed before I moved on to Emery’s room. He was just getting out of the bathtub and I had his undivided attention snuggled up in a towel, so I asked him the same thing.
“Hey Buddy, do you have any regrets today? Ya know, did you do anything today that you wished you wouldn’t have?”
His reply was just as swift. “Yeah. Clean my room!”

LOL Never at a loss for an answer. :)
Too funny!! Did he actually do something that he should have regretted in the way you meant it?
Spoken like a true boy!

I keep trying to leave a comment, but it won’t let me. What am I doing wrong?
Can’t say that I blame him. You gotta admire his honesty:)
