I recently came across the blog of a lovely woman. That linked me to a blog of another lovely woman. I don’t think anyone could read the stories of these two ladies and not be inspired.
First there is Lovelyn. She and her husband felt God calling them to adopt Ugandan babies. They already have a house full of beautiful little girls, and yet they opened their doors and their arms to the possiblities of saving the lives of young children.
She is very passionate about what she has been called to do. She has made T-shirts to raise funds for her trip to get her new children and I purchased one from her site. Unfortunately, when the envelope containing my shirt got to my house, it was empty. There were other pieces of my mail that had been tampered with that day, so I’m quite sure that somebody is walking around in my shirt somewhere!
I emailed Lovelyn just to let her know what happened. In no way did I expect her to mail me another one. After all, I considered the money a donation. But her response to my email was so sweet! She wanted me to have another one. Insisted, actually. The message, she wrote, is what she wants out more than anything.
So I told her I would help her get out the message. There are 147 million orphans in our world today. Million. I can’t fathom that number. And while I can’t do much to help millions of kids, I can help those who have been called to take them in as their own.
Now, if you don’t feel like donating for a T-shirt from Lovelyn, wait till you read about Katie. She is a truly amazing young lady, trusting in God and doing His will above all else. Please go to her site and be informed. Sure, it might make you feel like what you did today was a total waste of time in comparison, but what’s wrong with that?
We should be inspired to do more. We NEED to be inspired to get outside of our comfy little box to help those who are in need. It’s what we are commanded to DO. What are you waiting for???
