Well, our weekend was a blur. How about yours? For us it all began on Friday afternoon with Savannah’s tennis lessons. She started taking them this summer and with the exception of the hot temperatures, she really likes it. Jeremy and I are so glad too, because she has shown zero interest in sports of any kind. We were both athletic growing up and having a child who would rather play quietly in her room than run around after a ball outside really threw us for a loop!
But anyway, back to Friday. My mom had to meet me at her lesson so I could leave early and get ready for the final Sundress Scramble of the year. What in the world is a Sundress Scramble, you ask? Well, I will tell you!
A Sundress Scramble, very simply put, is a golfer’s date night. Couples compete against each other by the men hitting the ball from the tee box all the way to the green. Once the ball is on the green, it’s the ladies job to putt the ball into the hole.
Oh, and we are supposed to wear sundresses. Hence, the name.
After a late date night, and even later night when I stayed up til 1:30 in the morning playing Monopoly Deal (which is the best, most funnest card game EVER) with my mom, I had to get up at dark thirty to run a 1 Mile Fun Run the next morning with Emery. You know, the boy who has been talking about the Fun Run since last September when I ran it with Savannah and he didn’t get to go and how it wasn’t fair and he wanted to run it this year and she better not get to go. That Emery? Yeah, the same child who decided the day before the run that he wasn’t going.
Thankfully when I woke him Saturday morning he had a great attitude. But imagine my surprise when my little competitor didn’t want to run. In a fun RUN. When all his buddies were RUNNING by. And he was being beaten by 2 three year old GIRLS!
He just kept asking me to walk with him and he wanted to hold my hand the whole time. I would have been disappointed if it wasn’t so gosh darn sweet! We finished around the 17 minute mark and then he had to change in the car before rushing off to a baseball game.
Here he is at 3rd base. Don’t let the “baseball ready” stance fool you. The ball probably just rolled by. Or a runner may be approaching from the left. He definitely has the look of an intense baseball player. But we’re still working on the fundamentals.
What he doesn’t need much help with though is that swing! I know, I’m his mom and all, but seriously…the boy can swing a bat! And as soon as he figures out how to make contact with a ball… I’m kidding! He is a good hitter. And he really loves to play the game. Which is important, right? I mean, who wants to argue with a 5 year old about going to their game only on 4 hours sleep??? Not me!
The rest of the weekend was spent catching up on sleep, downloading pictures, being frustrated with my computers photo software, doing lesson plans, picking up the house, telling my kids to pick up the house, reminding my kids to pick up the house, and going to church. But not necessarily in that order.
Hope yours was great!!!! :)

Cecily and Savannah would get along just fine! Cecily isn’t athletic the least little bit and she likes to be in her room as well!
