It was a lovely weekend for a beach wedding on St. Simons Island. Our friends, Joey and Velvet, gave their beautiful daughter’s hand in marriage on Saturday night. They could not have asked for a more perfect evening.
The Stanfield’s, originally from south Georgia, moved up to our neck of the woods when Savannah was a baby. Joey worked for Jeremy building houses and Velvet quickly became one of my best friends. I’ll never forget when I was pregnant with Emery, 2 weeks PAST my due date and finally in labor. When they heard I was in the hospital they cut their Florida vacation short, drove home in one day and then sat…sat…sat…sat in the waiting room until my little guy made his appearance hours (or was it DAYS?) later. They are truly one of the most genuine, do-anything-for-ya, loving couples I’ve ever met. And they’ve been sorely missed since moving back home in 2007.
So, to Sara and Wes, from the bottom of the York’s hearts…we wish you many, many happy years together!!! Congratulations!!!! And to Joey and Velvet, it was so great to see y’all and catch up. Funny that it’s been so long and only seems like yesterday. We love you!!!!
