We are so bad about planning date nights. It doesn’t matter if it’s a regular Saturday night or a special occasion. I think it’s because we have become such “last minute” people. If we do go on a date, the kids come with us because who can find a babysitter in less than an hour?
Lucky for us, this year our anniversary fell on the same weekend that Jeremy was playing in a golf tournament. Hmmmm…how is that lucky, you ask? Well, on the schedule of events, the tournament included a fancy dinner on Saturday evening. And Jeremy’s golf partner has a teenage daughter/babysitter.
SCORE!
We happily shared the night with our good friends Stephanie and Chris. We ate incredible food and laughed until our sides hurt. At one point Jeremy told the band about it being our anniversary and they called us out on the dance floor while singing “When a Man Loves a Woman”. So sweet!
The night ended after an impromptu trip to our favorite Racetrac for frozen yogurt and slushies. (The bizarre infatuation our family has with this new gas station built a couple of miles away from our house is really a post in and of itself.) For us, it was the perfect way to celebrate 13 years together.
Love you, Baby!
