One of the things I like best about where we live is that it’s within walking distance of this beautiful lake. I pass it every time I go for a walk and many times, the kids and I will come down here to sit and nature watch, or sometimes I’ll let them wade through its’ cool waters.
This spring, the lake has taken on a new appeal to Emery. He has discovered a love for fishing that I’m sure he inherited from his dad. Because, let’s face it, I like to fish. But I don’t like to fish every waking hour, and think about it all the time, and practice casting in the yard, and get up super early to go before school.
He also has his dad’s knack for catching them! Every time we go he catches fish. How is that even possible??? It’s not like we stay all day. Thirty minutes before school or an hour in the afternoon. Maybe some time in the evening after dinner. But there he is… with a bass on the line and a smile on his face.
