Well I finished the first month of reading through the bible with the Good Morning Girls and enjoyed it so much I planned to continue it in October. This month we start with Genesis. As much as I like the reading plans, using the SOAP study method, and encouraging each other through Facebook, I still felt something lacking. I’ve always battled with having God on my “to do” list. Get up (check), make steaming hot beverage (check), bible study (check), okay… on with my day.
Then I was introduced to Bible Marking and Journalling by GypsyMama. Oh.My.Gosh!!! Not only do I find her journalling creative and beautiful, but it’s so inspiring! I couldn’t help but run to my local Dollar Store a few days later and buy some pretty pens, stickers, and washi tape. And now I’m bible marking too!!!
A few things have happened that I didn’t expect:
1. It slowed me down. I don’t have the “to do” list mentality any longer. As I linger over deciding which color to use, I linger over scripture.
2. I can recall what I read at the end of the day without much effort. This is new to me!
3. I find that I’m excited to get out my Bible, journal, and colorful paraphernalia each morning. Even when I’m still tired. I can’t wait to start my day this way.
GypsyMama has lots more advice about bible marking and journalling on her blog page, but my favorite quote from her page is this: “Don’t be guilty of marking your Bible without letting it mark you.†Words of wisdom, right there now! Thanks so much GypsyMama! You have surely been a blessing to me!!!!
