Last fall I began writing down short scripture verses for the kids to memorize. I knew they weren’t always going to understand the meaning, but what I was trying to do more than anything was establish the habit of scripture memorization (for them AND me). It also gave me an opportunity to discuss the verse further with them.
Earlier today I was doing a review of the verses we’ve learned so far. I was really surprised at how many they’ve remembered, including where it’s found. (Personally, I’m terrible at that!) At one point I started giving them hints to see if they could recall the others.
Savannah had one on the tip of her tongue, but she just couldn’t remember it. She said, “Mom, you know, it’s the one about the toilet.”
“What???” I begin looking through my notes. “Toilet???”
“Yeah, the Word was flushed.”
John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
I can’t make this stuff up, People.
