We are very fortunate to have family close by where we can stay until our home is rebuilt. Both of Jeremy’s parents, and mine, offered to open their homes to us. We discussed our options and certainly didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but eventually decided to stay with his dad.
The kids have been so happy here. And well, they should be! Papa’s Place is a kid’s paradise!!! Acres and acres of farm land, cows, a fishing pond, barns, tractors, and a playground. Not to mention, the baby geese just hatched and last night, when we walked down to the lake to find them, we noticed hundreds of tiny tadpoles swimming around!
I’m glad to see my youngin’s running so free and being delighted in so many ways. I’ve been worried about how the fire would affect them. If they would be fearful or clingy for a while. But instead, thanks to the love of family and friends, they have been witnesses of all the good there is in this life. And I am so grateful for that.

I was looking around on the net the other day for opinions about dealing with children after a fire. What it came to, basically, is that you should answer their questions honestly and that, in most cases, they will take their cues from their parents and others around them. Since you are taking it all in stride…they will, too. Glad you have such a wonderful place for all of you to regroup, refresh, and begin again — together.
I second Nanny :) Savannah and Emery are doing so well because their Mom and Dad are leading by example. They are great kids!
You’re blessed to have wonderful family!
