Okay, agreed, Pinterest can be a real time waster. BUT… it has given me so many good homeschooling ideas this year! Like this one that we did last week while studying the moon. Using Oreo cookies, we cut the cream centers to look like each phase. How cute (and tasty) is that?
When I first saw it online I thought it seemed pretty self explanatory, but I decided to follow the link just in case there were any minor details I could add to the project. Surprisingly, the woman who posted this suggested using mini Oreo cookies. Mini Oreo’s??? Can you imagine trying to slice into the creamy center of those teeny, tiny cookies? She said she originally used the big Oreo’s and when they were done, ate them. Eating 8 Oreo’s made her “queasy” so she concluded the mini’s would be a better choice. What the what? Who gets queasy after eating 8 Oreo’s? I mean, there are only 3 servings per package right? We eat an entire ROW in one sitting around here.
And that is why I do not buy Oreo’s very often. And it’s also why my kids were WAY excited about eating doing this project. Thank you Pinterest! And thank you strange, queasy Oreo cookie lady!

Actually, strange, queasy cookie lady only needed to eat 7. The new moon and the full moon can be made out of one. That’s why she overdid it.
