Look! A week! It flashed right before my eyes, and now it’s gone!!! Wow…yep…it’s been one of those.
A whirlwind of to-do lists and a couple of playdates. We leave for Honduras in only 2 weeks so I spent a good deal of time working on our will, copying our passports, reading about traveling in that country, and writing the women’s and children’s devotions for that week.
I also started planning Emery’s birthday party. Sure, it’s not until July 2nd, but I can only imagine all the catching up I’ll have to do when we get back from our trip. I’m afraid I won’t think about Mr. Incredible and his friends again until it’s too late to plan something fun for the boy.
But by far, the biggest time sucker I had this week was working on a dress for Savannah. A friend of mine had inspired me by making an adorable summer dress for her daughter, and I thought “oh, this would be fun”. It’s a thought that haunted me all week.
Beginning with threading my sewing machine (remember, that is #10 on my “40 Before 40” list). The first thing I read in the owners manual was “Raise presser foot lifter”. Huh? Is that a complete sentence? I mean, it has a period and all, but…
Then the pattern through me for a loop talking about the “grainline” (would that be whole grain?) and “Use of the nap” (yes, I could use a nap, thank you!). And how about the fact that I had cut out over 10 pieces, with 3 left to go, when I realized I was supposed to have folded the material “wrong sides together” before cutting!
Ugh! So much for a time saving/money saving project. With the number of hours of labor from 3 afternoons this week, plus the cost of the pattern, plus the cost of material I could have bought her a dress from The Wooden Soldier!
But I tend to be uncomfortable leaving things half done. That’s why I am also struggling through the 2nd homeschooling book I got at the library last week. It’s due back Tuesday and I’m not enjoying it as much as the first one. But I’ve started it, by golly, I will finish it!!! Same with the dress. I’ll work on it some more and see how far I get….seeing as I cut out the pieces backwards and all.
Okay, well that’s my busy week in a nutshell. This weekend is looking just as eventful. We have a car show tomorrow, church and all it’s activities Sunday, and a day at Papa’s house on Monday. Not sure when I’ll be poking my bloggy head out of the fog again. Hope everybody enjoys the long Memorial Day weekend!!! TTFN!!!!

LOL. Hang in there, Dear, you’re learning a lot!
We will be praying for you guys on your trip. Do you know if you guys are going to San Marcos? I would love to send a letter or something to our child if possible. Just wondering. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend. (And get lots done :)!
Wow! You are taking on a lot. Can’t wait to see the dress.
I’m with you in the sewing “challenge”. I haven’t braved anything other than Emma’s apron. I really really want to, but for some
reason, this machine makes me a nervous wreck!!!
Post some pictures when you get done with it so I’ll be inspired!!!!
So should I not tell you when I start Addilyn’s second dress? I’m sure after I see the complicated dress you are making, I’ll be inspired to do more than the simple one I’m making Addilyn! Hang in there – you’ll be so proud of yourself for at least finishing it – flaws and all!
