Last year my kids liked going to my parents house to get in the pool. They would splash a little and maybe play on the steps. It was fun.
This year…they are like FISH! I can’t get them out of the water. And when I finally do, all they talk about it going back in.
Every day of the week I hear “Can we go to Nanny’s today? Can we go to Nanny’s today? Pleeeaassseee???”
Here is Emery “diving”. Earlier in the season he would climb onto the diving board and want so badly to jump in. But each time he would walk up to the edge, look over, then get mad at himself for not being able to jump and start crying. Today he had no fear. If he jumped off that thing once, he jumped a hundred times.
Savannah has shocked us all this year. She wouldn’t even put her face in the water last summer and now she is jumping in while trying to catch giant beach balls. Both of the kids beg me at bathtime to let them get in my big bathtub. That’s where they practice their techniques. They even like to wear their goggles! But I had to draw the line when Emery wanted to wear his “super suit”.
The super suit got it’s name from Disney’s “The Incredibles”. It’s Emery’s favorite. Remember the line when Frozone can’t find his super suit, so he yells to his wife in the other room, “Hon-ay, whar’s ma supa-suit????” Yeah. That’s what I said the first time we went to the pool this year and I couldn’t find it. It’s been called the “super suit” ever since.
Never before have I desired to have my own swimming pool like I do this year. My parents don’t live very far from us, but still, just packing everything up and spending half the day away from home can’t be done all the time. I think it would be great to be able to put our swimsuits on in the morning, play a while, eat lunch, then take L-O-N-G afternoon naps! What a great way to spend the summer.
I think even Stafford would agree!

Hey girl-got something for you at my blog.
Much love,
Angela
I am laughing over the super suit. Our youngest child graduated from the super suit a year ago and that’s what we called it too. I am also laughing about your 100 things about me list. Very funny. I loved the Aww, Bless Your Heart one. You just nailed that. I’m not from the south either and it just cracks me up how you can say ANYTHING and its fine as long as you follow it with bless your heart.
Anyway, I need to get breakfast going so I have to stop writing now. Have a great day.
Kate
The pool has pretty much been our summer too! Enjoy!
steph.
I hear you on the pool thing. I keep telling Chanch that when the kids get tired of the playground area, we could just turn it into a pool area. Don’t you agree? I’m sure Nanny would miss seeing you guys there if you got your own though:)
How fun! My kids love it too. Jenna taught herself to swim this year.
How much fun! I love watching kids swim!!! It’s like they are lost in their own world.
