Did anyone else see the interview last night on Larry King Live with the Stephen Curtis Chapman family? What was the deal with Larry calling the little girl by the wrong name? I mean, okay, Mary Sue is similar to Maria Sue, but they corrected him the first time and he continued to do it.
I’m not a regular viewer of the show, but when I heard the Chapman family was going to be interviewed about the death of their youngest daughter and how their faith in God is sustaining them, I set my Tivo to watch it after the kids went to bed.
I couldn’t help but be distracted by the fact that Larry kept calling her Mary. Does he do that often? I could maybe see getting the names of the other 5 children confused, but Maria Sue is the main character. She is the whole reason they were there. It seemed a little odd to me. And even a slight bit disrepectful.

I had a problem with that too. It bothered me, and I’m with you, I think it was rude.
hmm…I didn’t catch that interview, but I did see them on Good Morning America this week. I think Robin Roberts did a great job and the family was really able to open up about their faith. I guess I will just stick with GMA. Thanks for warning me!

Oooh, this is one of those times I’m thankful I don’t have TV. That is ridiculous. Bad enough that she was the main character as you put it, but the fact that she is no longer with them makes it that much worse.
I didn’t see it but I’m sure it would have bothered me too. I’m not sure how old Larry is now but he looks like he might be starting to slip a little.
It was more than a little distracting. I was especially grieved that he wrapped up the program talking about “Mary Sue.” The Chapman’s handled it so graciously, though I am pretty sure you can see them almost wincing when he says it at the end of the interview.
I’m with you. I got so mad, especially the second time! I said exactly that-
disrespectful!!!! They did so good at answering all the questions but I thought
Larry King was “hard”. I can only pray that my two boys will become like
Caleb and Will Franklin one day. So supportive of each other!
