I was at my parents house this weekend while Jeremy was playing golf in the rain. At one point I was relaxing in an oversized chair that sits among their library of books. Suddenly I remembered that I had loaned my dad a book called Night by Elie Wiesel. And he had never read it.
I got up and searched for the book, thinking of a friend of mine who I thought would like it too. When I found it, I thumbed through it.
Rarely…and I do mean RARELY…do I read a book twice. But I couldn’t help it. I started reading it again. And when I got home that night, I continued until I finished it.
This is such a fantastic personal account of a survivor from the holocaust. I’m amazed at how much the author can recall from his experience. Such little details. Names, events, colors. It’s striking, really. There is innocence lost, wavering faith in God, feelings of abandonment, and heartbreaking honesty.
Talk about a trial of life! This man tells an incredible story from his own experience. Trust me when I say this is a must MUST read!!!

If you like that, then you need to read “Left to Tell”. This girl is actually your age and recounts the Rowandan Genocide. She is absolutely AMAZING!!!
Sounds like a great book. I may just have to pick myself up a copy!

I read this for my reading group last year. I really liked it. I’m always re-reading books. Sometimes 3 or 4 times! I need to re-read this one now.
