Today I got on the computer in search of Sight Words. Savannah’s reading has greatly improved, but she struggles with the words that are simply holding the sentence together. I notice that she starts guessing what the word might be according to whatever the picture above the sentence looks like. Instead of sounding it out or even beginning to recognize and memorize certain common words.
I found a lot more than I bargained for! I thought I would pass along some great sites for anyone else dealing with phonics and reading. The first one is Starfall. I clicked on it and then had to wait for Savannah to get done playing all kinds of word games before I could continue my search. She loved it! Gamequarium is great because it has a lot of choices. Although for us right now, she can’t exactly navigate the site alone since it is primarily word choices with no pictures to help her out. Still, it’s nice to have everything in one spot.
And finally, if you’d like to print your own set of sight words, EdHelper was my favorite of them all.

Jodi, Starfall is a good website. Kimberly uses that at schoo,l in their computer station, and at home. Tim’s aunt, who also works with preschool kids told us about it.
Thanks for sharing. Iwill have to check these out.
Much love,
Angela
Great sites! Thanks for the info! Also, if you need something more for site words, Dianne Craft sells flashcards which have colors and silly pictures on them that help the words to ‘stick’.
Glad you are finding things that help her!
