So I’ve been enjoying my Daily Bible that I started reading in January. It lays out a plan for reading the Bible in a year. I have to admit, getting through Israel’s exodus from Egypt and into the desert has been a bit challenging some days. Especially those early mornings, before the caffiene has kicked in and I’m reading page after page of them counting the number of people in each tribe. And that was preceded by many exciting chapters of tabernacle design, garment making, and animal sacrifice technique.
Maybe Moses has them counting themselves so often because it seems to be the only thing that keeps the Israelites from whining.
I wonder if that would work with my kids?
Anyhoo…this morning, while reading in the book of Numbers, something got me tickled. Ya know how the tribe of Levi were the Levites, and Gershon’s clan were the Gershonites, and Kohath’s family were the Kohathites? Okay, well I got to thinking. If we had a clan name, would we be the Jeremites? Or would we have to go back another generation to be the Jimmy Leeites? One more step back would afford us the name Jimboites and I’m not so sure I’d want to go there!
So…what tribe are you?

Well, I’ve often thought that you and Jess are “Jerry’s kids”…but, okay, for the sake of this discussion: if we went back one generation we would be the Lenialites, which I like better than if we go back one more which would make us the Adelbertites.
ummmm, the Harrioites. Hmmm, hairy? Think we’ll go with my side, the Carrollolites. Yea, that’s better!
I think I would either belong to the Bobites or perhaps the Enoites. Depends on how far back you want to go! :)
